Sad News.......

Postby DWR » Mon Mar 08, 2010 10:32 am

I think many of you knew Dave Griskevich from the Rivers Edge Trading Company in Beverly. It saddens me deeply to pass along the news that Dave passed away unexpectedly late last week. He was a solid human being who worked very hard for almost 15 years to establish his business to serve outdoorsmen on the North Shore but could not withstand the economic downturn and was forced to close his doors in 2009. Through the RETC, many people were introduced to fly fishing and hunting, and learned tactics and ethics through the many schools, classes and seminars that Dave offered. The North Shore was a better place for having Dave and the RETC around for all those years.

Dave himself was a passionate outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt, especially with his well trained field dogs.

I will miss him terribly.

Condolences

Postby joppahoppa » Mon Mar 08, 2010 7:19 pm

DWR,

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing you and Dave's family and friends some comfort during this difficult time. I never met Dave or stopped by his shop, but your brief description makes me wish I had.

And the picture seems a fitting tribute.

Best,

Joe

A gentleman

David helped me start out as a flyfisher. He fostered my love for the sport and he was always a good listener, a helpful friend and a quiet leader in the North Shore angling community. I will miss him. He will be remembered as a gentle man.

I can't believe what i just read about Dave's passing...

I bought my first saltwater fly rod from him in the mid 90's and a couple more over the years. Also, stopped in there countless times just to browse around or buy some fly tying materials. Dave was just a super guy. Always friendly, always had time to chat. I hope his family and friends are doing well in this difficult time. Gonna really miss him.
