I've been lurking here for a while and looking for opinion
I've got 3 newer reels to rig penn 50S (not the wide style), 50VSW, 50 TW on a couple different rods that can handle the drags. all roller troller type stand up rods
My thought was to go Jerry Brown Hollow core either 130 lb or 200lb. I've also got some top shot leader that measures out 1.6mm that's 250lb. I don't have the 130 lb mono specs that I have...
These will be my trolling rigs to run spreader bars and sluggo chains.
I also add 2 bent butt 130s that will have to fill in as trolling setups as well as the dual roll of swivel live bait giant setups. Those are all set...
My question is whether to go with the 130 lb hollow core or 200lb hollow core.
I was planning on rigging up the line myself and do the serve and what not...
The 50S doesn't have quite the capacity as the other two but they are all I can afford at this time. I was figuring the get the odds an ends to save a little money and wet pack the reels myself and stuff. I found 2500 yrds of 200lb JB Hollow for $450 on line. I already have some 130 lb leader and some 250 lb leader that will put 100 yrd top shots to all of them.
Am I nuts?
BTW, I've seen lots of posts and appreciate the communication on this forum. On Saturday I was out at the curl on jeff's bank. I had a gillnetter around me that was picking cod/haddock. Not a big boat... Anyway, had a tuna party just behind my boat about 50 feet picking up scraps they guy was throwing out. They came and gone before I could toss my stella/ocean lure at the quick pee-a-boo. It got me pumped though.
