Had a very small fishing window this weekend. Fished the afternoon tide at halfway hump. No love. Just some tiny haddock. I put enough of a chum slick to bring something in from Chatham.

I fished Thursday and Friday in the bay. Thursday day we fished from dark to dark and only marked three fish all day. All marks were fly byes with nothing staying in the chum. On Friday we set up a little farther north on sw hump and did not mark one fish all day. Unfortunately it appears the draggers are dragging up any chance of life in the bay. On Thursday there had to be 12 boats working the area. I think the next trip will be farther away from home, any body have any luck farther out on Jeffreys this week?

You're right, the draggers are targeting whiting in the bay right
now. Watch out for your anchor lines!

I was out on tuesday last week and there must have been 20 draggers! Fleets of them, My buddy got his anchor pulled twice so far this year.

Make friends with the draggers. Fish near the draggers. They are not the enemy. respect the fishery they make a living on. And when all else fails, hail them on ch 16, and say they picked you up, knife went over board, boat is about to swamp. they will be peaches and cream after that....

I was dragged up after losing a fish. Got back on the ball and I started to mark again... Dragged up shortly after. I was civil and got my anchor back but lost my slick. Be respectful and they will do the same.

Needless to say I keep a closer eye on the draggers now.

Fished inner flag yesterday. Plenty of bait, whales, even some bird activity. Lots of guys fishing, only saw one guy get one, and it certainly was not me. When we first got on our spot we started catching whiting, and hake. Then it was mackerel, then red fish, and pollack. Like they work different shifts. Our only excitement of the day was when a school of blue fish came by. One of them was lucky enough to become chum. Been a frustrating year, but it's comming. When the bluefish hit I realized my crews lack of experience. Looked like the three stooges out there over a bluefish.
